Marine-i project enters exciting second phase
Part funded by the European Regional Development Fund, Marine-i was designed to help the marine technology sector in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly grow through harnessing the full potential of research and innovation. The original project ran from 2017 to the end of 2019 and provided crucial support for over 100 pioneering businesses in Cornwall.
Funding has been secured for a second phase of Marine-i which will run until 2023. The new project is being launched in Spring 2020. The new programme will focus on enabling Research, Development and Innovation by working closely with businesses to develop their ideas through to the stage at which they can demonstrate their products and take them to market.
The £5.5 million project will again be delivered by six project partners: University of Exeter, University of Plymouth, Cornwall Marine Network, Cornwall College Group, ORE Catapult and Cornwall Development Company. Commenting on the news, Prof. Lars Johanning of University of Exeter, Lead Partner for Marine-i said: “The world class RD&I expertise and the outstanding test facilities available through Marine-i have already enabled many exciting new product developments, in some cases opening global market opportunities for Cornish businesses. We now aim to build further on this success.”
