Marine-i2 Launch Event
On Thursday 12th March, Marine-i held the launch of the second phase of their project and a discovery forum at St. Austell Business Park. The Marine-i2 launch event was well attended with representatives from over 20 Cornish marine businesses.
The initial Marine-i project ran from 2017 until the end of 2019 with great success and the new Marine-i project will build on that success, sharing the same vision to create a sustainable and innovative marine technology sector in Cornwall.
At the launch, Marine-i shared information about the funding and support that has been secured and is available for a further three years of research, development and innovation work with Cornish marine technology SME businesses. The event also heard from the six Marine-i delivery partners, who spoke about their areas of expertise, available facilities and capabilities that they are bringing to this new phase of the project.
As part of the event, ‘Discovery Room’ discussions were held
around some key areas of innovation, interest and opportunities; namely,
floating offshore wind, tidal stream and marine technologies. The event proved
to be a great opportunity for networking, introducing collaborative ways of
working, as well as starting conversations around future project ideas and SME
engagements with the Marine-i project team.
